As Mayor, Mr. Philippe Roy chairs Mount Royal’s Town Council. He also represents the interests of Mount Royal citizens on the City of Montreal Agglomeration Council where he sits as the mayor of one of the fifteen reconstituted municipalities.
Philippe Roy is a lawyer and works in public affairs. He ran as part of Vera Danyluk’s team in the 2005 Town elections. He was elected as a councillor and took charge of all matters relating to the environment and also became the spokesman for young Mount Royal families. He became the Chairman of the Environment Advisory Committee which piloted the creation of the Town’s first Sustainable Development Plan. He is also responsible for adopting the first Tree Policy.
Re-elected to a second term during the 2009 Town elections, Philippe Roy became the Town’s representative with the CLD Les Trois Monts. He took on the duties of Town Deputy Mayor in the spring of 2010 when Mayor Vera Danyluk had to leave her post for health reasons. He was then elected by acclamation as the 14th Mayor of the Town of Mount Royal following the By-election held in the fall of 2010.
