This activity is a production of the Mount Royal Centennial Celebration Society.
This project, organized in collaboration with the municipality and an organization specializing in setting up such installations, will bring to life a « Sugar Shack » for one week in Dakin Park. On March 14 and 15, children from local schools will also get a chance to come.
Historical panels and notes as well as traditional items such as cast iron cauldrons, evaporating pan, bales of straw and other items representative of this tradition from our ancesters, will all contribute to the « look and feel » of a sugar shack. Music, storytelling, fabrication of traditional sleds and other activities such as taffy on the snow will entertain everyone, young and old.
