Mission

Town of Mount Royal is governed by a Town Council consisting of a mayor, Philippe Roy, and six councillors, namely Erin Kennedy, Minh-Diem Le Thi, Melpa Kamateros, Joseph Daoura, Daniel Robert and John D. Miller. All have been elected by universal suffrage to a four-year term during which the members of Town Council make their vision a reality.

Chief among Council’s concerns is ensuring the welfare of all Town of Mount Royal residents and that residents’ interests are protected. Council works to maintain and, whenever possible, improve the quality of life for which the Town is known. Council invests considerable time and energy in preparing and implementing the annual budget, always choosing the fairest solutions with respect to the Town’s immediate operating requirements but without losing view of its growth potential or future needs. Council expresses its will through resolutions and by-laws and thus has a direct impact on the entire municipal organization, its policies and the services it provides.

Council meetings

Normally, on the last Monday of each month, at 19:00, the Town’s elected officials welcome you to a regular Council meeting, which takes place at Town Hall, located at 90 Roosevelt Avenue. Mount Royal residents are encouraged to attend, since these public meetings are the best way to learn about decisions affecting the Town’s activities. The meetings also provide Council with the opportunity to receive citizens’ questions, requests and comments.

Question period

Every Council meeting begins with a 30-minute period for questions related to items on the meeting’s agenda. After dealing with all the agenda items, Council holds a second, 30-minute question period for members of the public.

Agendas and minutes of meeting

The agendas for the Council meetings are posted in this section of the website on the Friday before the meeting; you can access them via the menu on the left side of the page. Printed copies are also available at the reception table on the evening of the meeting before the meeting begins. The minutes of Council meetings are posted on this website once they have been approved by Council, usually the month after the meeting concerned.
