Activities

This program is a production of the Mount Royal Centennial Celebration Society.

The calendar [PDF 170kB] of proposed activities for 2012 will give you an opportunity to do some time travel : it has been developed so that it divides the century that is now nearing completion into 5 periods :

January to April : Conception & Birth – from 1910 to 1920
May & June : Youth – the 20s to the 50s
July & August : Adulthood – the 60s to the 90s
September to November : Maturity – from 2000 on
December : Today and looking towards the future.

This breakdown into time periods is used as a background, guiding the choice of activities, decor, music styles and atmosphere for the various events of the centennial.

We wish to cater to the interests of all ages of residents, with projects touching arts and culture, history and heritage, sports and community activities, without forgetting to provide opportunities for all to celebrate together! We are working in close collaboration with the schools, churches, sports and cultural organisations of the town. Moreover, merchants and businesses of TMR will also be involved in promoting the centennial and helping support it financially.

In addition to the festive activities of 2012, a legacy project is being planned for the Centennial, in partnership with the Municipality : announcement to come!
