Local news

The Town’s website publishes messages of local interest on its In a nutshell, Flash info, News releases and Public notices pages.

Two weeklies also provide local coverage: Le Journal de Mont-Royal and L’Express d’Outremont / Mont-Royal.

Twice a year, namely in summer and winter, the municipality publishes its Info Town of Mount Royal magazine, each issue packing tons of useful information.

Regular meetings of the Mount Royal Town Council

The Town of Mount Royal Council Meeting is usually held on the last Monday of each month, at 19:00, at Town Hall (90 Roosevelt Avenue).

Recreation card

A Recreation membership card is mandatory for everyone, five years and over, who wishes to participate in our programs or use the recreation facilities. Simply present yourself at the Recreation Centre (60 Roosevelt Avenue) during office hours to obtain your card.

New residents must provide a proof of residence at the time of registration (driver’s license, telephone, Hydro or tax bill).

Lawn watering: hours permitted

From May 1 to October 1, between 6:00 and 8:00 and between 18:00 and 22:00, manual watering on even-numbered calendar days for adresses bearing an even-numbered number, and on odd-numbered days for those with an odd civic number.

Automatic sprinkler system: from 3:00 to 6:00 on the same days, according to the street number.

Regular collections

Household waste collection

Frequency: Once a week, on Wednesdays, for residential buildings with less than eight units, and twice a week, on Tuesdays and Fridays, for commercial and apartment buildings with eight or more units.

Garbage may be put out after 19:00 the evening before and up until 7:30 on the actual collection day.

Pick-up of recyclable materials (blue bin)

Frequency: once a week, on Wednesdays.

Blue rollout bins may be put out after 19:00 the evening before and up until 7:00 on the actual collection day. Be sure to place your bin properly (wheels and handles facing the house) or it will not be picked up.

Bulky waste collection

Frequency: Every second week, on Wednesday for residential buildings with fewer than eight units, and on Friday for those with eight or more units. Spare yourself the guesswork and check out a calendar.

Bulky waste may be put out after 19:00 the evening before and up until 7:30 on the actual collection day.

Yard waste collection (green bin)

Frequency: once a week, on Wednesdays, between mid-April and mid-November.

Dogs and cats

The owner of a dog or a cat shall obtain each year a license for the custody and identification of each animal. Note that the permit is free for guide dogs.

Generally, exterior work requires a permit. Work performed inside requires a building permit when it is structure-related.

Parking

Unless otherwise indicated, no vehicle may be parked on the same block continuously for longer than 4 hours in Town of Mount Royal.

You may obtain a temporary overnight parking permit, free of charge, if work being done or visitors are preventing you from using your driveway.
