2013 Mount Royal Family Bike Ride

Hop on your bikes on Sunday, May 26, and go for a family ride through the streets of Mount Royal. Participants are invited to gather in front of Town Hall (90 Roosevelt Avenue) starting at 9:00 and the official start will take place at 10:00.

Free Compost Distribution

Self-service distribution of compost on May 11 and 12, from 9:00 to 16:00 at the municipal workshops (180 Clyde Road).

Limited quantity. Please bring a shovel and sturdy containers and plan on showing a proof of residency.

Due to water damage sustained over the weekend in the children's section, the library will remain closed today.

Residential districts only.

Branches shall be placed with their cut ends together and facing the street, on the property next to the sidewalk in a readily accessible location, before 7:00 on April 29, 2013. Information: 514-734-4123.

Shrub and Tree Branches Special Collection and Household Hazardous Waste Pick-up

This year, the special branch collection will only be offered upon request, on Thursdays, from April 1 to September 30. To be picked up, branches must be grouped and placed next to the sidewalk, on your property. To ask for pick-up: 514-734-4123. In order to slow down the proliferation of the emerald ash borer on the Island of Montreal, please note that except in cases of emergency, no cutting down of ash trees is tolerated during the branch collection period.

This Saturday, March 23, from 20:30 to 21:30, lights will be turned off in municipal buildings (except for building safety lighting). Mount Royal residents and businesses are invited to take part in this worldwide movement by doing the same.

The Public Security Department will increase its patrols on October 31 and each residential neighborhood will be watched by at least one car patroller. We recommend that parents accompany their children. Should that not be possible, make sure your children go trick-or-treating with a group of other children accompanied by an adult.

Free Compost Distribution

Self-service distribution of compost on October 6 and 7, from 9:00 to 16:00 in the municipal arena parking lot (1050 Dunkirk Road). Limited quantities. Please bring a shovel and sturdy containers and plan on showing a proof of residency.

Note: Plastic bags of any size are inadequate for bringing back compost.

Branch Pick-up

Now that the flight period of the emerald ash borer is over ( April 1 to October 30) and federal government orders have been lifted, residents who wish to dispose of branches can once again resort to regular pick-up services (green bins, refuse) or bring their branches to the Côte-des-Neiges Éco-centre.

Reminder: hedge trimmings and small branches can be left for pick-up as long as they are securely tied in bundles of up to 1.2 m (4 ft.) long and 60 cm (2 ft.) in diameter. Branches cannot exceed 5 cm in diameter (By-law No. 1358).

Yard Waste Collection: Emerald Ash Borer Alert Still On

From April 1 to September 30, branches more than 2.5 cm in diameter cannot be put in refuse or in green bins for yard trimmings. The Eco-centre will not accept them, either.

A shredding service is offered for amounts of branches equivalent to the content of a green bin and remains available every Thursday throughout the period. For larger amounts, a special collection is required (either through Public Works or a private collection service).

Starting this weekend, expect increased congestion on Lucerne Road when approaching the Lucerne/Côte-de-Liesse intersection as one of the lanes will be blocked. Lawn Watering: Hours Permitted

From May 1 to October 1, manual watering of lawns, gardens and other vegetal elements is allowed between 6:00 and 8:00 and between 18:00 and 22:00 on even-numbered calendar days for buildings with an even civic number, and on odd-numbered calendar days for those with an odd civic number. For buildings equipped with an automatic sprinkler system, watering is allowed from 3:00 to 6:00 on the same days, once again according to the street number.

This information is taken from our Water Supply By-law No. 1419, available online.

In order to carry out the marking of the parking lot, parking at Town Hall will be prohibited from Monday, July 16, 17:00, to Tuesday, July 17, 7:00.

During this period, the interdiction for a vehicle to park on a public road for more than four (4) hours will be lifted. Your vehicles can be parked at the curb.
