The territory of the Town of Mount Royal extends from both sides of the intersection of Highways 40 and 15 and that major junction provides a clear geographic separation between the Town’s industrial activities and its residential and commercial space.

The Town of Mount Royal industrial sector represents almost 40% of the Town’s area and its closest neighbours are the Cité scientifique de Montréal and the current Blue Bonnets Hippodrome site, and it also gives out onto Côte-de-Liesse Road and the Décarie Expressway. Approximately ten kilometres from Montreal-Trudeau International Airport and fifteen highway kilometres away from the Port of Montreal – and just half that distance by train – it’s a great location.

Because of its location, the Town of Mount Royal industrial sector provides strategic access to the main Canadian, North-American and international markets and benefits from its proximity to several laboratories and universities: McGill University, Université de Montréal, Concordia University, Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM), HEC Montréal.

Approximately 33% of jobs in the industrial sector can be found in distribution activities, while 25% make up the manufacturing section.

The overall industrial sector has already been densely built; from this point on, set-up projects involve more of a re-conversion of existing stock than choosing a vacant lot.

Commercial sectors

The Town of Mount Royal includes five (5) well defined commercial sectors. They are located right on the four corners and right in the middle of the Town’s residential half, east of Highway 15.

Rockland

This sector’s main landmark is the chic Rockland Centre, located along the Metropolitan Autoroute (40), making it a fashionable destination with strong regional drawing power.

Town Centre

Located right in the heart of Mount Royal, on both sides of the railroad tracks, it includes businesses and offices, providing residents with a nearby variety of products and services.

Beaumont

Neighbouring the L’Acadie Metro station, the Beaumont sector is home to a varied range of businesses, and has developed a health care vocation that has become more and more clear over the years.

Plymouth-Lucerne

A stone’s throw from the De la Savane Metro station, the second largest business sector in Mount Royal (behind the industrial sector) is home to a combination of businesses, offices and industries and provides access to a great selection of products and services, thanks in part to the presence of the TMR Shopping Centre.

Jean-Talon Ouest

The most modest of Mount Royal’s commercial sectors includes a large number of different automotive services (including general mechanics).Interactive Map

Quartier Design Royalmount

Dozens of interior design businesses are set up along the Décarie Expressway, at the entrance of Mount Royal’s industrial sector. The area has become a destination for design professionals but also caters to the needs of regular shoppers.
