By-law No. 1410 Governing the Demolition of Immovables

In effect since August 3, 2006, this by-law sets out the rules that owners are to follow before carrying out the complete or partial demolition of a building located within the territory of Town of Mount Royal.

Specifically, the by-law provides for the constitution of a Demolition Review Committee that is composed of three members of Town Council. The rules applicable to the submitting of demolition permit applications and the conduct of the committee meetings are also specified. In addition, the by-law contains provisions regarding how the committee is to render its decisions, the procedure for appealing decisions to Council and the criteria that applicants must satisfy in order to obtain a demolition permit.

The by-law also sets out the rules applicable to the performance of the demolition work and the amounts of the fines that may be imposed when demolition work is carried out without a permit or in contravention of the demolition permit conditions.
