Green inside and out and acutely aware of global issues, Town of Mount Royal strives to protect the environment. Not only do residents proudly support sustainable development, they also find their hopes and concerns reflected in the Town’s various policies. In Mount Royal, doing our share for the environment is… completely natural!

Even without pesticides, Mount Royal’s lawns are lush and green……edging our streets with a velvet-textured, entirely natural ground cover……and providing a verdant foil for residents’ landscaping initiatives.Garden waste? Compost it!Do your part: compost!Recycling bins, like garbage bins, should be placed curbside.We recycle just about everything, from plastic to metal to glass, not to mention paper and cardboard.Our trees protect us. Let’s return the favour!

Healthy lawns

Herbicides, fungicides and insecticides be gone! The use of pesticides is banned in Mount Royal. The healthy green of our lawns is 100% natural and due only to the care lavished on them by their owners and to the warming rays of the sun. Say, when was the last time you laid on the grass and looked up at the clouds? In Mount Royal, our lawns are an open invitation to spend time outdoors.

Composting and yard waste collection

Give a second life to your kitchen scraps and garden clippings: start composting! 

From mid-April to mid-October, make use also of our yard waste collection by dropping garden trimmings inside a green rollout bin.

Recycling

Recyclable materials include glass containers, cans, plastic, paper and cardboard, and the Town collects all of them. You will need a blue rollout bin if none is already assigned to your address, regarding which you can contact our Technical coordinator in environmental and sustainable development at 514-734-4123.
