Lower speed limit on Lucerne, Bates and De Vimy since May 26

Lucerne Road residents will see one their wishes come true. On May 26, the speed limit on that busy road was reduced from 50 to 40 km/h. The same applies to Bates Road and nearby De Vimy Road.

These changes take place within a legislative and standard-setting context since adoption of Traffic and Parking By-law No. 1384 dates back to 2000.

“The safety of Mount Royal pedestrians and residents remains a priority for the Town” explained Mayor Philippe Roy. “Reduced speed limits combined with police operations and raising awareness of maximum speeds allowed are ways by which the Town will enhance each and everyone’s safety.”

New street signs will soon be visible along the three roads concerned. Also, flags and radar display speed signs will be used temporarily so as to foster awareness of the ongoing changes.
