Road network

Town of Mount Royal’s road network comprises about 90 km of roads and nearly 160 km of sidewalks.

It should be noted that some segments (Royalmount Avenue, Lucerne Road, Rockland Road, Jean Talon Street, Beaumont Avenue and Côte de Liesse Road) are actually part of the Montréal arterial system. The other segments belong to Town of Mount Royal.

Responsibility for the arterial system segments is shared. The Agglomeration of Montréal carries out major work and repairs, while the Public Works Division performs minor work such as maintenance (snow removal, for example) and emergency work (potholes, cave-ins, etc.).

On the other hand, Town of Mount Royal is wholly responsible for the segments that are part of its local road network but not the Montréal arterial system. Much like the role that the Agglomeration plays with respect to the main arteries, our Engineering Division is responsible for major work and repairs, including all forms of planning, assessment of the condition of streets and sidewalks and obtaining the necessary approvals from the partners concerned (Bell, Hydro-Québec, Gaz métro, etc.) before carrying out work on shared corridors.

For the local road network, Public Works is responsible for general street maintenance (snow removal, sweeping, washing, etc.), repairing road cuts made for work on the water distribution and sewer systems, installing and removing speed bumps, resurfacing and installing signs in accordance with the instructions received from the Engineering Division.
