The Reginald J. P. Dawson Library announces a new re-opening date: April 22

After postponing the re-opening initially planned for April 15, the Reginald J. P. Dawson Library is having a second go at it and now planning to re-open its doors on Monday, April 22. However, Mount Royal residents should continue to check the Town’s Facebook page or the home page of its website between now and the 22nd in case a second postponement is announced.

The original re-opening date was cancelled for safety reasons. Although the expansion and renovation work on the library is nearly complete, various jobs remain to be done, some of which are key to the safety of the building’s occupants and eventual visitors. In view of the laws and regulations in effect, it is imperative in such situations to obtain a go-ahead from professionals before the building is re-opened, and it is only this week that some of the final work will receive formal approval from an engineer.

“We are aware of our residents’ expectations,” explains Mount Royal mayor Philippe Roy. “That being said, safety remains our prime concern. The Town will make no compromises on the safety of its residents or employees.”

To make the best of an unfortunate situation, entry forms will be distributed to visitors upon reopening, for one day only. (...) More
